All loneliness is NOT bad!
As I did research for my multi-genre project I can across many poems about loneliness. I was expecting to find a variety of poems that were about not only loneliness making you sad and depressed but also ones that stated how loneliness had made them strong and a better person. I soon found that what I was hoping to find was not going to be as successful as I planned. It seems that out of all the poems I read, they all discussed how sad and depressing it was to be lonely. I know from personal experience that to be lonely is just a temporary thing intended to make you stronger. It is an emotion that forces you to go on and get beyond it. It is simply a bump in the road to happiness. You just have to patient.

Poems!
I don't read very many poems. In fact one of my favorites isn't really a poem at all. It's acctually a quote from my favorite book, but I find it poetic so I felt it neccissary to include it. It is just worded so strongly, with such passion, that it makes you almost feel that way. The second one I picked is just something that when I was younger i heard it once and it kinda just stuck with me. Whenever I'm having a bad day or feeling lonley I can just read it and it lets me know that there is someone out there. The rest of my list I kinda of struggled with to put together but I did my best! :)
“Loneliness is the human condition. Cultivate it. The way it tunnels into you allows your soul room to grow. Never expect to outgrow loneliness. Never hope to find people who will understand you, someone to fill that space. An intelligent, sensitive person is the exception, the very great exception. If you expect to find people who will understand you, you will grow murderous with disappointment. The best you’ll ever do is to understand yourself, know what it is that you want, and not let the cattle stand in your way.”
-From the book White Oleander
Somewhere there's someone who dreams of your smile,
And finds in your presence that life is worth while,
So when you are lonely, remember it's true:
Somebody, somewhere is thinking of you.

My remarks on Marks
The poem “Marks” seems to be somewhat depressing. I have found that a lot of the poems we have been reading all have turned out being sad. I find this quite odd. I cant believe that that her husband actually grades her on the tasks done. Especially grading her performance I bed, I would be outraged if my significant other graded me on what I did around the house or my sexual performance. If my own children graded me, well, that would probably be very sad. Mostly if my grades where like the ones that the children give out in the poem. It makes perfect sense that she would “drop out” after the marks she got from her loved ones.

Barbie Doll
I am not really sure how I feel about this poem. I think that it is written very well and is totally interesting but it is sort of disturbing in a weird way. Don’t get me wrong the poems flow and wording is very strong with a lot of emotion. It seems a little to depressing to me though. I personally like more cheerful and happy poems. This of course is just my personal opinion.

Lucky....
I have only read the first couple chapters of Lucky, but so far the book is very interesting. It is a definite page turner. Alic Sebold is an amazing writer and if i had more time I'm sure I could read this book in a day.
Sebold does a very good job with her descriptions. The intensity of them makes you feel as if you are there observing. She mentions everything you could think of with out making it overwhelming to where you get lost reading the first couple pages. In the first chapter when she is going through the happenings of her rape, I felt as if i was standing there watching. As creepy as that sounds, I felt I was watching and could not do anything to help.
On the other hand there was something that I am not real sure how I felt about it. The way Sebold jumps from subject to subject after each chapter. At first you don't really see the meaning behind the things such as her infatuation with the house fires. I didn't really understand where she was going with that whole chapter. Also, immediately after wen she jumps into talking about her mother drinking, I felt that was kind of random at first.
Although there are many things I find odd about her writing style, I still find her to be an amazing writer and can't wait to read more of Lucky!

What is NON-FICTION?
I feel that non-fiction literature is any sort of literature that is based off true events. There can be some alterations such as names and such, but is mostly based on the truth. It is a representation of fact, as wikipedia states.

A Good Man IS Hard to Find!
I enjoyed the short story, "A Good Man Is Hard to Find". The first thing that drew me into this story was obviously the title. The title fits very well into my life and I agree one hundred and ten percent! I good man is very hard to find indeed. I started reading the story thinking, "hmm...maybe there is some hidden trick in here or something that will lead me to a good man, or at least to bait em' in, then I can trap em'" (that is a bit of sarcasms for those who don't know me). Then I realized, if there was some hidden trick in this story, A LOT more people would know about it don't you think. So, as my dream of finding my "dream man luring technique" vanished, I still continued to read.
What kept me intrigued while reading this story was definitely the irony throughout it. As you read you start to think of random pieces that MAY be a hint to something else later in the story. Or at least I do. :) Once you realize one bit or irony, you are determined to find out everything else that could be ironic. Then, before you know it you have finished the story, are putting together pieces of irony, and you think you have this whole story figured out. That is until someone else brings up something you didn't realize and you find yourself in this vicious circle of reading and rereading the story searching for those pieces of irony that you missed.
Personally, I found the fact that, the one person that the grandmother wanted to keep away from her family was the misfit, which turns out to be one of her sons. I found that very odd, yet at the same time...IRONIC! Also, the fact that after they wander off onto this unpaved road, looking for a house that is not even in the state, they get into a car accident. IRONICALLY, after crashing they all end up being killed by the misfit. Ironic?....YES INDEED! :)
